The battle for glory in the Retro Rallycross Championship is wide open as the series roars back into action at Lydden Hill Race Circuit this weekend for Round 5. With bumper grids, legendary names, and fresh challengers, fans can expect another adrenaline-fuelled showdown packed with classic rallycross action.

In the Super Retro category, reigning champion Charlie French heads to Kent locked in a dead heat on points with Alan Crockett. The pair have been inseparable across the opening four rounds, but with heavyweights Pat Doran, Allan Tapscott, Stuart Emery, and Vince Bristow in pursuit, the fight for supremacy is fiercer than ever. They’ll be joined by crowd favourites Andy Grant, John Cross, Steve Pascoe, David Ewin, and Steve Cozens, as well as former champions Lee Wood and Ray Morgan. Adding even more spice, Nigel Davey makes a long-awaited return in his Triumph TR7, while newcomer Paul Quinell is set to debut in a Peugeot 205.

The Retro 1660cc category is equally stacked. Championship leader and defending title-holder Dan Swayland will line up alongside rivals Tony Lynch and Simon Hart, with Joe-Luke Eastwood and Ian Halfhide ready to pile on the pressure. All eyes will also be on Peter Christmas, who makes his maiden Retro Rallycross appearance at the wheel of his much-anticipated Toyota Corolla – marking his return to the sport after a lengthy absence.
With the championship picture hanging in the balance, Round 5 at Lydden Hill promises all the ingredients of a classic: fierce rivalries, new stories, and the unmistakable roar of retro rallycross machines that fans won’t want to miss.
