”I bought my current car in 2000 and won the ANWCC stage rally championship seven years later I did very little after that and after the car had sat in the garage for 3 years a friend introduced me to rallycross” said Hardman ” I started racing in 2017 and had a great year finishing 2nd in my very first event going on to win five finals. I was denied the overall championship following a bad accident at Croft in the final round but did become the Historic Champion and received the best newcomer of the year award. My future appearances will be with Retro Rallycross and I am very much looking forward to my first event at Pembrey in June I have to add that none of this would have been possible without the dedication of my Uncle John of John Hardman Engineering who builds my engine and also helps to prepare the car for events”.
Championship coordinator Shirley Gibson said ”I’m looking forward to seeing Brian’s fabulous car on our grids, I’m delighted that he has chosen Retro Rallycross for his future ventures, we have spoken of this together in the past but before this could happen there was a lot of work to do in getting the car ready to come out again it’s now rebuilt and the decision was finally taken to make the move to join us I know that he won’t be disappointed and will fit into our series very well”.
On speaking about being chosen for Speedmachine Hardman added ” when I was invited by Shirley to take part in the speedmachine World RX event I thought wow what an opportunity then I thought the car is not really ready but opportunities like this don’t come along that often so I said yes, to make my debut at such a spectacular showcase event is very special to me I’m also looking forward to competing at pembrey in the double header and the remaining events this year massive thanks to Shirley and the retro team for giving me this opportunity it will be a memory I will never forget”.
