The Retro Rallycross Team are delighted to be returning to Lydden Hill ‘The Home of Rallycross’ for their second visit this season on August 25th where they will once again be joining forces with Haynes of Maidstone to bring you the Haynes Village. Lots in store in this area for all spectators where complimentary treats will be on offer, pop down and visit us in the centre of the paddock where you will be made very welcome.
We extend a warm welcome to Ian Shelley, who will be out on track as the newest member of the Retro Team in his Mini where he will race head to head fancying his chances against fellow mini men Lance Foster and Ian Biagi. Another new visitor at Lydden will be that of our second Retro Baby; Rosa Harrold was born just a few weeks ago, and we are all very excited at seeing her for the first time, Rosa will be joined by her ‘Big Brother’ William.

It’s been a mixed bag of success and failures for the Team so far this season with Barry Stewart, James Harrold and Rob Gibson having to sit out rounds due to technical failures. Today they are back in business and will be on hand in their spectacular machinery to try and bring a halt to the success that has seen consistent contenders Lance Foster and Ray Morgan battle out for overall honours at previous rounds. Morgan is always a delight to watch here at the Lydden Hill Circuit in his MK3 Ford Escort, where his spectacular flair for sideways driving is something not to be missed.
Retro Rallycross featured at the FIA World Rallycross Championship round at Lydden Hill in May with a display of Group B cars that ended in disaster for Pat Doran when his Ford RS200 dramatically burst in to flames. Pat and the LD Motorsports Team are trying to get the car out for this event and if they are successful then you will be in for a real treat.

The promoters of the FIA Championship have invited the Retro Rallycross Team to do it all again at the Loheac Circuit in France on 6/7 September, where Pat Doran and Rob Gibson will fly the British flag against cars from Belgium, France, Norway and Sweden.
Earlier this season Retro Rallycross announced that they had created a trophy in memory of John Button who sadly passed away at his home in the South of France in January. With the blessing of Jenson Button, the ‘John Button Memorial Trophy’ was presented to the public at Lydden Hill in March. The magnificent looking Trophy, that will be on show again for public viewing this weekend, will be presented at the end of the season to the Driver who wins the title Retro Rallycross Driver of the Year.
