Former FIA European Rallycross Championship front-runners Pat Doran and Rob Gibson will perform for the partisan fans in the MG Metro 6R4 and Ford RS200 that the pair respectively raced over 25-years ago, while British Rallycross Championship podium-finisher Steve Harris will drive an RS200 Evo adorned by the livery of two-time British RX champion Mark Rennison.
Welshman Roger Thomas, a regular Retro Rallycross Championship competitor, will also drive a 6R4 at Silverstone, the venue where he raced against World RX stars Sebastien Loeb, Timmy Hansen and Andreas Bakkerud in the British RX season opener in March.
French rallycross legend Philippe Tollemer will also join the fray in 6R4, while Jean-Claude DuPont will cross the English Channel to pilot a Peugeot 205 T16, a car he uses regularly in French Rallycross Legend events, of which Retro Rallycross is also a part.
Dave Halford will drive a unique-sounding Audi Quattro at Silverstone and Dominique Camerno will wow the crowds with a rare appearance for a Lancia Delta in the Retro Rallycross arena.
In the paddock, as part of the Speedmachine Festival experience, Rob Gibson will display another Ford RS200, while Warren Philliskirk will give fans the opportunity to see his MG Metro 6R4 up close.
“Taking part in World RX again is very exciting and this year we have an exceptional line up of fabulous Group B machinery. The list of drivers and cars that can come out at the special features we organise is slowly growing, with more and more reports of Group B cars that are being prepared for events such as this,” said Retro Rallycross promotor, Shirley Gibson. “We are really looking forward to the weekend, the Speedmachine Festival has something for everyone so it’s going be an exciting and enjoyable event.”
Retro rallycross will open the on-track action for the Silverstone weekend at 12.00 on Friday May 25 and will form part of the schedule of each of the three days of action.
