The Retro Rallycross Championship roared into Ireland as Mondello Park hosted Rounds 6 and 7 of the Super Retro series and the fans were treated to a weekend of truly spectacular action!

As expected, it was business as usual at the front with title rivals Charlie French (Ford Escort MK2) and Alan Crockett (Opel Kadett) locked in an intense head-to-head battle all weekend. The pair pushed each other to the limit across both rounds, with barely a car length separating them in the finals.

On Saturday, French came out on top in Round 6, holding his nerve to secure a vital win. But Crockett bounced back in Sunday’s Round 7, producing a breathtaking final race drive to take the chequered flag and keep his title hopes very much alive. The battle between these two continues to be one of the highlights of the season!

Third-placed Vince “Sideways” Bristow lived up to his nickname, throwing his BMW M3 around the circuit in style. Fully aware of the challenge posed by the leading duo, Bristow drove smart and fast to defend his position in the standings and did just that by the end of the weekend.

Stuart Emery had the crowd on their feet as he battled handling issues in his magnificent Volvo 242, yet still managed to put on a fantastic show with his committed driving.

Meanwhile, the fight for fourth place was just as fierce. Pat Doran and Alan Tapscott, both behind the wheel of Ford Escort MK2s, arrived at Mondello tied on points. After a hard-fought weekend, it was Tapscott who edged ahead by a single point, setting the stage for a thrilling showdown in the final rounds.

With the season finale just weeks away at Lydden Hill on 8–9 November (rounds 8 & 9) promises to be an unforgettable conclusion to the Retro Rallycross season.
